Profile

Dr. Sauve’s training was at the University of Western Ontario, University of Calgary, Stanford University Medical Center and the University of California at Berkeley. His career has been centered at the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine where his clinical work has been in Neonatology and his particular interests focus on long term outcomes of preterm infants and Perinatal Epidemiology. Dr Sauve’s current research projects are in Neonatal Follow-up, Outcomes of infants who received complex cardiac or other innovative therapies, Neonatal/Perinatal clinical trials, Systematic Reviews and Global health. He has >250 publications, >340 abstracts and has supervised >90 MSc and PhD students. He is the chair of the External Advisory Committee of the Canadian Pediatric Surveillance System, Public Health Agency of Canada.

Dr Sauve has received many awards, including an Alberta Centennial Medal, was named one of the 100 Physicians of the Century, the Smith Distinguished Achievement award for senior faculty, the AMA Member Emeritus, an CMA Honorary Membership, the Canadian Pediatric Society Distinguished Neonatologist award and the Geoffrey C Robinson Award.
