Profile

Dr. Allison Brown is an Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Department of Community Health Sciences. She is a currently a member of the O'Brien Institute for Public Health (OIPH) and a consultant for the Office of Health and Medical Education Scholarship (OHMES). Dr. Brown completed a PhD in Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary (specializing in Medical Education) in 2020 and a MSc in Health Research Methods at McMaster University in 2017. 

 

Dr. Brown is a generalist, mixed methods researcher who has over 40 publications to dateShe is a pragmatic scholar given her diverse range of methodological expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research as well as her expertise in psychometrics (measurement), assessment, program evaluation, and improvement science. Her areas of interests in medical education are dynamic and eclectic, including: 

• Social accountability (including diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine and medical education)

• Quality improvement and patient safety

• Performance improvement

• Competency-based medical education
