About

Degrees: PhD (University of Calgary) , MSW (Univeristy of Calgary) , BSW (University of Calgary)

Interests: Distance education, technology in human services, human sexuality, diversity issues, women’s issues.

Dr. Jessica Ayala has a PhD from the University of Calgary, and is a Senior Instructor and Director of the Office of Field Education. Dr. Ayala is passionate about both social work education and technology, and particularly the role of technology in social work education and practice - which has been the focus of much of her research. Her other teaching and research interests include human sexuality, diversity issues and research foundations.

Prior to joining the Faculty, Dr. Ayala worked at the Calgary Health Region as e-learning specialist, and also has experience working in the non-profit sector, both in the front lines (supporting and building community with diverse individuals) and in the areas of administration and leadership. Jessica is originally from El Salvador and is fluent in Spanish, her native tongue.
