ARKY 401 - Archaeology of the Near East - Fall 2011

Survey of the prehistory of the Near East, starting with the earliest traces of human activity up to the Bronze Age. The Near East is a small but dynamic region that witnessed many of the world's cultural firsts. Topics include adaptations to a varied environment, successive human migrations out of Africa, the nature of the Middle-Upper Palaeolithic transition, the agricultural revolution, and the world's earliest cities and states.
This course may not be repeated for credit.
