Dr. Samuel is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary.  She is a member of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute for Child and Maternal Health and O’Brien Institute of Public Health.  She is a pediatric nephrologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. She received her undergraduate medical degree from the University of British Columbia and completed her post graduate medical training at SickKids Hospital in Toronto.  She received new investigator salary awards from the Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program and Kidney Research Scientist Core Education and National Training Program (KRESCENT) of the Kidney Foundation.  She is an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease and serves on various local and national committees to enhance child health and kidney research.  She has served as the Chair of the Pediatric Group of the Canadian Society of Transplantation and Chair of the Pediatrics Committee of the Canadian Kidney Knowledge Translation and Generation Network.  She has received awards for research and community contributions – including the University of Calgary Petro Canada Community Innovator Award and the Top 40 under 40 Award from Avenue Magazine in Calgary.
