ENCM 515 - Application Specific Processors and Accelerators - Winter 2024

Review of microprocessor fundamentals. Comparison of basic system architectures for RISC, CISC and application-specific processors. Processor characteristics needed to match the requirements for specific applications. Hardware and software optimization techniques for accelerating applications and achieving system requirements on the capabilities of a given platform. Comparison of custom and current commercial processor and accelerator architectures. Elements of Hardware-Software co-design and development processes. Practical applications and laboratories.
This course may not be repeated for credit.
