Peter Taylor has enjoyed a long and successful career within the business community holding positions that include President, CTO, Director, Vice President, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer at Shaw Communications Inc., and as Chief Information Officer at the Calgary Police Service. His career commenced in Melbourne, Australia, after completing his studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). In 1989, Peter moved to Canada where he successfully created and developed several management consulting practices, all which were acquired by other companies due to their respective successes.

Peter has personally provided consulting services to many Fortune 500 companies in various geographical regions, including Australia, Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. He spent 14 years at Shaw Communications Inc., one of Canada’s largest connectivity companies, starting as the Director, IT Operations and later appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In Australia, Peter served in law enforcement, and in the Australian Army.

Peter recently commenced teaching at the Haskayne School of Business (Haskayne) in Winter of 2021 as a Sessional Instructor and is now teaching full-time at Haskayne in the Business Technology Management Area. (BTMA)

Peter has completed many formal educational programs including the Queen’s University School of Business Executive Program - Advanced Executive Certificate in General Management. In May of 2018, Peter received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Queen’s University, Smith School of Business. In April of 2019, Peter completed the Director Education Program (ICD.D) at the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Peter serves on two boards, namely Janus Academy, and SPARK - The Energy Credit Union. He also volunteers at the University of Calgary, Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership (CCAL), Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Feed the Hungry, Calgary.
