Dr. Cynthia Simmons retired from her full time appointment as Associate Professor of Accounting in December of 2014.
During her tenure with the Haskayne School Cynthia served as an active faculty member, Head of the Accounting Area, Special Advisor to the Dean on Budgetary Matters, and the Associate Dean Academic. In addition she served on the Board of the University of Calgary Faculty Assoication, The Chartered Accountants of Alberta Council, and on the Board of the Chartered Accountants School of Business. She has twice received the Chartered Accountants' Award for Teaching Excellence and has been awarded a Distinquished Service Award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
Dr. Simmons has taught Cost and Managerial Accounting across the globe, working in Canada, Ecuador, Iran, New Zealand, Peru and the United States. She has taught individuals at various levels in their education including those in Undergraduate, MBA, PhD, and Executive Education programs to general business students, accounting specialists, and just the curious.
Cynthia continues to be an active contributor to the Haskayne School through her sessional teaching in the MBA, Undergraduate, and Executive Education Programs.
For her contributions to the University and the Accounting Profession, Cynthia was awarded Emeritus status in the Summer of 2015.
