David Dick

David Dick is an assistant professor of philosophy and Fellow in the Haskayne School of Business’s Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business. Formerly the University of Calgary’s Chair in Business Ethics, David teaches courses in business ethics, political philosophy, and the philosophy of science as it bears on management studies.

In the Calgary business community, he oversees the Integrity Network, a working group of ethics professionals from corporate, academic, and non-profit sectors.  Under David’s guidance, the Integrity Network has grown to include more than 70 participants from 30 organizations. 

David holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Michigan. His dissertation was recognized with a Charlotte W. Newcombe Fellowship, the highest honour for doctoral work promising “original and significant study of ethical or religious values.”  In 2011, he developed a new course entitled “Philosophy of Money,” and was nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award in the course’s initial offering. David’s own research includes recent work on property and money, and is currently working with Piers Steel and Justin Weinhardt to develop a new measurement of ethical leadership.
