| Notes: Mandatory Course Supplementary Fee of $50.00 is required. This course explores the spiritual relationship between Aboriginal Peoples and the natural world and environment. Aboriginal spirituality will be studied from historical and contemporary perspectives, both in literature and visual representation. Contemporary issues studied will focus on the misappropriation of Aboriginal spirituality in the 21st century, such as the New Age commercialization of Aboriginal culture, knowledge, and sacred practices. Field trips to buffalo rubbing stones, sacred sites, and a tipi ceremony will provide"hands-on" experiential learning through tactile senses; core to developing "listening maturity" skills about Aboriginal spirituality and the natural world. |
