I am an international Ph.D. student enrolled in the program of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. I come from the People’s Republic of China. I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Translation and Interpreting from Shandong University, China. And I received a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the same university minoring in Cultural Industry.
My supervisor is Dr. Olga Mladenova. My research interest lies in the translation studies between Chinese and English and I am typically interested in the English translation of Chinese cultural texts. If possible, I also hope to research about teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The reason that I chose to pursue a higher research degree in University of Calgary lies in the great research atmosphere and a general research funding that I was provided with. The views of mountains and lakes also make me believe that I will have a pleasant stay here.
I am passionate about learning different languages and cultures. Besides my mother tongue Chinese, I am fluent in English, and I can also speak a little bit Japanese and French. I don’t have a favorite author, but I like to read books about history and geography, detective fictions and Chinese classics. I enjoy watching the Trilogy of the Lord of the Rings. In my spare time, I prefer to watch documentaries, travel to an ancient cities to visit museums, spend time with my family and friends, and explore new things.
