SOWK 302 - Research in Context Theme Course - Fall 2014

Provides an introduction to knowledge generation relevant to generalist social work practice. Foundational concepts and approaches of various research methodologies will be introduced as ways of knowledge building to inform practice and influence policy within rural, remote and Indigenous contexts. Particular emphasis will be directed to the development of skills in critiquing published research studies through examination of design limitations, ethical issues as well as the cultural assumptions and biases underlying research paradigms. Additional attention will be paid to contextually relevant evaluation of social work practice and services.
This course may not be repeated for credit.
