The theoretical background for feminist archaeology and some of the important advances in Old and New World
gender studies. Topics include the relationship of gender hierarchy to the rise of the state; contrasts between
the ideological representation of gender and culture practice; and an overarching theme of critical analysis
relating the present to the past.
This course may not be repeated for credit.

- Archaeology 451 or consent of the Department.
