Representation of solutions of Pell equations using Lucas sequences
Abstract
We consider classes of Pell equations of the form
x^2 - dy^2 = c, where d = a^2 - 4, d = a^2 + 4, d = a^2 - 1,
or d = a^2 + 1 and c = +4, -4, +1 or -1. We show that all the solutions are expressible in terms of Lucas sequences and we
give the Lucas sequences explicitly.
